The Most Important Election Issue: Educational Freedom

I know some of you read the title of this missive and say the Colonel had too many head-first landings as a paratrooper. But, if you think generationally, educational freedom is the most important election in this midterm election cycle, and future elections. Why? Because it was just about a year ago that Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe asserted, "I do not think parents should be telling schools what they should teach." This statement set forth an incredible turn of events in the Virginia election. It was the only positive aspect of the COVID shutdown: parents were exposed to the indoctrination of their children.

 From that point on, parents began to show up at school board meetings. Parents realized that they had a First Amendment right to "petition their government for a redress of grievances." However, the response of the all-mighty government was to designate parents as “domestic terrorists.” The progressive socialist left knows how critical the issue of education is for future generations. They do not want any disruption to their planned indoctrination of our children. We should never forget that it was Karl Marx in his book “The Communist Manifesto” who listed “state control of education” as one of the Marxist planks.

Yes, inflation is important to get under control, and the solutions are evident. Yes, we need to secure our border, and again, the solutions are evident. Yes, we need to restore our energy independence. Yes, we need to get crime under control, and it is simple, repeal these insidious bail reform laws and stop releasing violent criminals back onto our streets.

But, if you think strategically, and realize what the leftists hold dear -- besides murdering unborn babies in the womb -- it is the control of our children. That is how the leftists will perpetuate their ideological agenda for generations to come. If we do not take a stand for educational freedom and push back against Randi Weingarten and teachers’ unions, the fate of America is almost sealed.

This is why I firmly state that the most important elected position in America is the school board. Case in point: not far from me, in Frisco, Texas, they recently had a vote before them on opening up bathroom facilities to the gender choice of the students. There is a concerted effort to push this gender dysphoria agenda upon our children, as well as sexualize them. The Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) and Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) recently met in San Antonio, and one of the topics was how to push the LGBT and gender dysphoria agenda without parental knowledge and consent. The topic was not how to improve education for our children in Texas, where some 67 percent of 4th graders do not read at grade level. Texas ranks near the bottom in education in America.

I was recently in Arizona and was informed that there is a state-funded chat room for sexually confused children to have conversations with adults about sexuality, without parental knowledge.

We still have cultural Marxism being taught in our schools. We are finding sexually explicit materials in our school libraries. There are many states, such as Texas, that have obscenity exemption laws that enable such materials to be available to our kids. There are proposals for a curriculum that will teach our kids as young as K-3 about sexuality and some very disturbing topics. We should all be appalled at the new phenomenon of “Drag Queen Story Hour” and the exposure of our children to related shows at some very disturbing venues.

And what is the response to parents who disagree? They are castigated as terrorists, and as we saw in Round Rock Texas, two Dads were arrested in their own homes.

We must keep a focus on this issue, hat tip to Arizona for passing a landmark school choice, education freedom, law. Something is absent in the state of Texas. We have to continue to prioritize school board elections as well as State elected officials who will support education freedom. We need to have elected officials and candidates at the federal level who will stress educational freedom and restrict federal government intervention in an area for which it does not have any enumerated constitutional power. Never forget that it was Joe Biden who threatened to cut off school lunch program funding to school districts that would not support the gender dysphoria agenda. Yes, Joe Biden is willing to starve children if we refuse to sexually confuse them.

Vladimir Lenin said, "give me just one generation of the youth and I will transform the world." This is the goal and objective of the progressive socialist leftists in America, to dominate our system of academia, and transform it from one of education to indoctrination. We cannot lose focus on this issue. As we saw in Virginia, it is a unifying issue, and it is right. Parents and grandparents, do not surrender your child to the state or government. These are your children, not the ideological property of bureaucrats, teachers, unions, and ideologues. This is a long war issue for America, and we must prevail against those who truly are targeting our kids.

Let me close with this disturbing piece of news. Recently in El Paso Texas, a teacher was fired because she was indoctrinating kids to not refer to pedophiles as such, but rather refer to them as "minor-attracted persons." The leftists in America want our children, with some of the most disturbing and perverse intentions. They can only be stopped if we, true patriotic adults and parents, decide that our children are off limits to the Marxists.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul pleads for 'federal solution' to migrant crisis

Left-wing New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) is calling for President Joe Biden to come up with a "federal solution" for the thousands of illegal immigrants who are being bused to New York City from overwhelmed border states.

The Democratic governor told Bloomberg Television Tuesday that she's raised the issue with the White House and has asked for federal resources to shelter the migrants.

“We have been working almost hourly with the city of New York since the migrants started arriving. And it’s something that we’re working, first of all, to say human beings should not [be] used as political pawns. Once they come here, they need a place to stay, a transitional time, usually upwards of a week in order to get their feet on the ground and to find a place to live," Hochul said. “This is just a temporary situation, but, absolutely, we’re working with the federal government as well. I’ve raised this with the White House, and this calls for a federal solution.”

 “Let’s look at federal facilities, federal staff to help supplement the city and the state,” she continued, adding that she does not want the issue to "get out of control."

Democratic officials in sanctuary cities like New York have loudly complained since Republican governors in border states began busing illegal immigrants to their jurisdictions in spring. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) announced in April that the Texas Division of Emergency Management would charter buses and flights to transport migrants who had been processed and released from federal custody to Washington, D.C., New York, and other sanctuary cities. Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey (R) and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) have followed suit, sending thousands of migrants who consent to go north straight into the arms of liberals who claim to be pro-immigrant.

Though initially dismissed as a "gimmick" and a "political stunt," the large volume of migrants sent to Democratic cities quickly presented problems for those communities, which were not ready to receive them. In July, Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser called the situation in her city a "humanitarian crisis" and requested that the National Guard be activated to help take care of roughly 4,000 migrants who had been sent to her city by then.

New York City has received more than 16,000 illegal immigrants since May, according to Mayor Eric Adams, who has also pleaded for help to find shelter and food for the migrants.

Adams spoke about the issue at a press conference on Monday, where he blasted both the "far left" and "far right" for failing to find solutions to the migrant crisis.

“The far right is doing the wrong thing. The far left is doing nothing. I mean the silence — I don’t believe the silence that I’m hearing,” Adams said Monday. “These are people in need of services, and I am not hearing from the two ends of the spectrum. Far right is doing what’s wrong. Far left is doing nothing at all. It is time for us to address this in a unified way, and that’s what we are doing, this administration is doing. And we should not be doing it alone.”

New York City is building emergency tents to house recently arrived migrants, but Adams said construction has been delayed because of recent storms. Observing there is a risk of flooding in the original location for one of the Humanitarian Emergency Response and Relief Centers, the mayor said it will be relocated from the Bronx to Randall's Island and be able to house about 500 migrant asylum seekers.

Is 'Our Democracy' Failing Our Country?

Asked, "What is an American?" many would answer, "An American is a citizen of the United States."

Yet, at the First Continental Congress in 1774, 15 years before the U.S. became a nation of 13 states, Patrick Henry rose to proclaim that, "British oppression has effaced the boundaries of the several colonies; the distinctions between Virginians, Pennsylvanians, New Yorkers, and New Englanders are no more. I am not a Virginian, but an American."

Henry was saying -- more than a dozen years before our constitutional republic was established -- that America already existed as a nation, and he was her loyal son.

In an 1815 letter to Thomas Jefferson, long after both men had served as president, John Adams wrote:

"As to the history of the Revolution, my Ideas may be peculiar, perhaps Singular. What do We mean by the Revolution? The War? That was no part of the Revolution. It was only an Effect and Consequence of it. The Revolution was in the Minds of the People, and this was effected, from 1760 to 1775, in the course of fifteen Years before a drop of blood was drawn at Lexington."

Adams was saying that America was conceived and, as an embryonic nation, grew within the hearts of the peoples of the 13 colonies, two to three decades before the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia.

In short, our country came to be before our republic came to be, and long before what we today call "our democracy" came to be. A country is different from, and more than, the political system that it adopts.

France was France all through the Bourbon dynasty, the Revolution of 1789, the creation of the First Republic, the Reign of Terror, Napoleon's First Empire and the restoration of the Bourbon monarchy -- all the way to the creation of the Fifth Republic by President Charles de Gaulle.

And beneath the carapace of the USSR, the heart of Mother Russia continued to beat. Rightly, during the Cold War, we regarded Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria as "captive nations" and captive peoples.

The point: Neither the regime nor the political system imposed, nor some abstract idea, is the country that predates them and has first claim upon the loyalty of its sons and daughters.

In his famous toast, American naval hero Stephen Decatur declared: "Our country! ... May she always be in the right; but our country, right or wrong!"

The crisis today for those who incessantly proclaim, "Our democracy is in danger," is that millions of patriots are coming to see our incumbent regime, "our democracy," as faithless and failing in its foremost duty -- to protect and defend our country and countrymen from enemies foreign and domestic.

Forced constantly by the establishment to choose between them, patriotic Americans may one day come to choose, as did their fathers, the country they love over the crown that rules them.

Consider.

The Biden regime that currently rules us has allowed 3 million migrants to invade our country in two years. These illegals continue to break our laws and cross our border at a rate of 250,000 a month.

Among them are terrorists, robbers, rapists, murderers, cartelists and child molesters. The Biden regime has abdicated its duty to halt the invasion that is changing the ethnic, racial, religious, social and political character and composition of our American family without the consent of the American people, into whose national home these intruders are breaking with impunity.

President Joe Biden is assuring that the future of the nation will be determined by millions of people who have in common only that they broke our laws to get into our country. Vice President Kamala Harris smugly dismisses demands to address the crisis by saying America's southern border is "secure."

With this invasion has come a flood of the narcotic fentanyl, which last year took the lives of 100,000 Americans, a number equal to all the U.S. war dead in years of fighting in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Under the Biden party's policy of softness on crime and indulgence of the criminal class, assaults, robberies, carjackings and "mass shootings," where four victims are killed or wounded in each episode, have surged in U.S. cities.

With America's currency and economy in his custody, Biden has, in 18 months, run up inflation, that cancer of America's currency, to 8%, run up the national debt to where it far exceeds the gross national product, and crashed the stock market, wiping out trillions in wealth.

"The pandemic is over," Biden told "60 Minutes" in September, a month when more than 400 Americans were dying of COVID-19 every day, a death rate higher than World War II and equal to the bloodiest war in U.S. history, the Civil War of 1861-1865.

The custodians of "our democracy" are failing in the most fundamental of duties of any political system -- to protect and defend the people. No failed regime can justify its permanence by claiming some inherent superiority.
