Biden Immigration Policy - Total Lawlessness

Hypocrisy: Leftists decry Texas border wall as risk for mass shootings, ignore actual crime surge from unguarded borders

By Monica Showalter www.americanthinker.com

Is there any argument leftists won't use to keep the U.S. borders open and profitable for Mexico's brutal human-smuggling rackets?

Apparently not.  Here's what passes for "reporting" from the left-leaning Dallas Morning News.  The article lacks a "nut graf" and goes all over the place structurally, but its one-sided activist agenda is clear.

The headline and subhead sum it up well:

Border residents fear more violence after 'invasion' rhetoric by Texas politicians

This week, Gov. Abbott and Lt. Gov. Patrick took a page out of Donald Trump's playbook and likened the arrival of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border to an invasion. That worries people who lived through the El Paso Walmart massacre.

The article goes on to quote illegal aliens who say they are worried about "racism" in the country they insist on living in illegally, instead of fleeing as a racist hellhole.  The unintentional irony is amazing.

And more to the point, the reporter apparently found some person or other who said he was afraid of a rare, mass shooting, by some psychological sicko, to make the argument that Gov. Greg Abbott's plan to build a border wall in the wake of a historic migrant surge needs to be called off.

So those border residents fear more violence, as the headline claims?  And that justifies halting a border wall as a result, leaving the border open with a White House that is refusing to stop the avalanche of crime that has come of it?

That claim doesn't explain much about the recent elections in Texas, where Texans of Mexican descent flipped hard for Republican candidates who vow to secure the border from illegal invaders who traffic in human beings and abandon them in the desert heat as a means of distracting the Border Patrol so they can ship illegal drugs across the border with zero consequences.  These monsters are committing strings of crimes against Texans living near the borderlands in order to get their evil job done, and forcing longtime Democrat voters in those areas to dump the open-borders Democrats to try to get some semblance of relief from the crime that inevitably comes in when unvetted criminals are allowed in.

Here's what's happening to Texas ranchers as a result of the migrant surge, according to the Washington Post:

Some degree of illegal immigration, human smuggling and organized crime has long been part of life in mesquite country, especially along the busy Interstate 35 corridor, but South Texas law enforcement officials say it has increased in recent weeks, and hazardous high-speed chases have become a routine occurrence in rural communities. Tiny law enforcement agencies, such as the one here in LaSalle County, act as a second layer of a border enforcement apparatus that tries to stop smugglers, drugs and undocumented immigrants [sic] before they disappear into big cities.

This increase has worried many local residents, and the debate over possible solutions often plays out on the Facebook pages of sheriff's and police departments, with views falling along already tense political lines. LaSalle County, where more than 87 percent of residents identify as Hispanic, has long been led by Democrats. But in the 2020 election voters backed Donald Trump, making him the first Republican presidential candidate in at least three decades to win the county.

Anyone who has lived in South Texas in the past 30 years can wax poetic about giving water to parched "walkers" or migrants of years ago, usually single men from Mexico looking for work. But the past four years of border policies make this feel different, residents of different political persuasions say. They are afraid that the border-crossers evading capture at the river — often while the Border Patrol is busy processing large numbers of migrant families and unaccompanied children — are ending up in the back of smugglers' stolen cars and threatening their safety.

Here's what the Border Patrol is finding among the numbers they do manage to catch, which is far from all of them, according to the New York Post:

Border Patrol agents in one sector of Texas have seen a staggering 900 percent increase in arrests of illegal immigrants with criminal backgrounds since this time last year, according to Customs and Border Protection.

In a release put out by CBP Thursday, the agency said it had arrested 760 undocumented individuals since October in the Laredo sector of the Lone Star State.

That's up from 60 arrests in the same time last year.

The group includes gang members and sex offenders.

Compared to the remote possibility of a mass shooting by some deranged person who could go off for any excuse whatsoever, the very real crimes committed against residents on the border are being dismissed by these leftists as unimportant.  There likely is no hope for the Dallas Morning News, which doesn't seem to be capable of writing an honest, multi-sided story at all these days on the effects of the border surge.  It continues to use its platform for woulda-coulda-shoulda stories to spread fear of might-happens from activists with questionable sourcing, instead of report on the very real criminal activity in Texas that is fueling election shifts and drawing Gov. Greg Abbott to do the job the Biden administration won't do.

The bad thing here is that leftists will seize on this argument for propaganda purposes and promote this as its argument for halting the border wall, hoping some leftist judge will buy it.  It's hypocrisy in the extreme, and it ought to be exposed as such.  It's also bad, lousy, worthless reporting from incompetents who don't know how to do journalism.

Another Societal Division - We Never Learn - Politics Rules

Who Is Really Killing American Democracy?

6/18/2021 - Pat Buchanan Townhall.com

By a vote of 415-14 in the House, with unanimous support in the Senate, Juneteenth, June 19, which commemorates the day in 1865 when news of Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation reached Texas, has been declared a federal holiday.

It is to be called Juneteenth Independence Day.

Prediction: This will become yet another source of societal division as many Black folks celebrate their special Independence Day, and the rest of America continues to celebrate July 4 as Independence Day two weeks later.

Why the pessimism? Consider.

Days before Congress acted, the Randolph, New Jersey, board of education voted to change Columbus Day to Indigenous Peoples Day. A backlash ensued, and the board quickly voted to rescind its decision.

Still under fire, the board voted to drop all designated holidays from the school calendar and replace them with the simple notation "Day Off."

The school board had surrendered, punted, given up on trying to find holidays that the citizens of Randolph might celebrate together.

But the "day off" mandate created another firestorm, and the board is now restoring all the previous holidays, including that of Columbus.

The point: If we Americans cannot even agree on which heroes and holidays are to be celebrated together, does that not tell us something about whether we are really, any longer, one country and one people?

Do we still meet in any way the designation and description of us as the "one united people" that John Jay rendered in The Federalist Papers:

"Providence has been pleased to give this one connected country to one united people -- a people descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government, very similar in their manners and customs."

Does that depiction remotely resemble America in 2021?

Today, we don't even agree on whether Providence exists.

We hear constant worries these days about a clear and present danger to "our democracy" itself. And if democracy requires, as a precondition, a community, a commonality, of religious, cultural, social and moral beliefs, we have to ask whether these necessary ingredients of a democracy still exist in 21st-century America.

Consider what has happened to the holidays that united Americans of the Greatest and Silent Generations.

Christmas and Easter, the great Christian Holy Days and holidays of that era, were expunged a half-century ago from the public schools and the public square -- replaced by winter break and spring break.

The Bible, the cross and the Ten Commandments were all expelled as contradicting the secularist commands of our Constitution.

Traditional Christian teachings about homosexuality and abortion, reflected in public law, are now regarded as hallmarks of homophobia, bigotry, sexism and misogyny -- i.e., of moral and mental sickness.

Not only do Americans' views on religion and morality collide, but we also seem ever more rancorously divided now on matters of history and race.

Was Christopher Columbus a heroic navigator and explorer who "discovered" America -- or a genocidal racist? Was the colonization of America a great leap forward for civilization and mankind, or the monstrous crime of technically superior European peoples who came to brutally impose their religion, race and rule upon indigenous peoples?

Three of the six Founding Fathers and most of the presidents of the first 60 years of our republic were slave owners: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, Andrew Jackson, John Tyler, James Polk and Zachary Taylor, as well as the legendary senators Henry Clay and John Calhoun.

A number of Americans now believe that Washington and Jefferson should be dynamited off Mount Rushmore at the same time the visages of the three great Confederates -- Gen. Robert E. Lee, Gen. Stonewall Jackson and Confederate President Jefferson Davis -- are dynamited off Stone Mountain, Georgia.

From all this comes a fundamental question.

Is the left itself -- as its cultural and racial revolution dethrones the icons of America's past, who are still cherished by a majority -- irreparably fracturing that national community upon which depends the survival of the democracy they profess to cherish?

Are they themselves imperiling the political system at whose altar they worship?

The country is not the polity. The nation is not the state. Force Americans to choose between the claims of God, faith, family, tribe and country -- and the demands of democracy -- and you may not like the outcome.

A question needs to be put to the left in America.

If your adversaries in politics are indeed fascists, racists, sexists, homophobes, xenophobes and bigots, as you describe them, why would, or should, such people accept and embrace your rule over them -- simply because you managed to rack up a plurality of ballots in an election?

Free elections to decide who governs are, it is said, the central sacrament of democracy. But why should people who are described with every synonym for "deplorable" not reject the politics of compromise and instead work constantly to overthrow the rule of people who so detest them?

Winston Churchill called democracy "the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried"

Are both sides sticking with democracy -- for lack of an alternative?

Texas Attitude Getting the Job Done!

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott Put Down Some Serious Cash to Get His State-Funded Border Wall Going

6/17/2021 - Matt Vespa Townhall.com

It's happening. The border crisis is ongoing. Joe Biden doesn’t want anything to do with it. We had another month where over 180,000 illegals were apprehended at the border that we know about. It’s soared past one million since Biden has become president. It’s out of control. Our own Julio Rosas knows first-hand; he’s been down there multiple times. Now, Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is taking matters into his own hands. He’s building his own border wall. Leah wrote about this last week, but now we know the down payment. It’s quite significant for a state budget (via Fox News):

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Wednesday formally announced that Texas will build its own border wall, as he accused the Biden administration of abandoning its responsibility to protect the southern U.S. border.

"Today we are announcing that Texas will build a border wall in our state to help secure our border," Abbott said at a press conference.

Abbott also announced a $250 million down payment to begin the project, allowing the state to hire a project manager and get the task underway. He said that it would be built on a combination of state land and donations of private land, and be partly funded by donations.

[…]

The Dallas Morning News later reported that the down payment will come from the state's Department of Criminal Justice.

More than 450 miles of border wall, including in Texas, was built during the Trump administration. That construction was suddenly halted by the Biden administration shortly after President Biden took office. Opponents of wall construction said it was cruel and ineffective, while proponents said it was a vital part of a border strategy to stop the flow of illegal immigration.

The issue that catapulted Donald Trump to the top of the 2016 GOP field and eventually the presidency is the one that Democrats are screwing up royally. Trump vowed to build a wall. It was a key 2016 promise. He got that partially done, but COVID screwed everyone’s plans. Now, Abbott is doing his part to secure the border and curb illegal immigration. Walls work. It’s why the liberal media calls them “cruel and ineffective.” It’s a tell-tale sign that it was a good immigration policy.

There will be a lawsuit for sure. Brace yourself for the tedious legal jargon that’s about to be had with this border wall issue.

Answers Galore to Biden Chaotic Immigration Policy

Texas Congressman Delivers GOP Address on the Ongoing Border Crisis

6/14/2021 - Madeline Leesman Townhall.com

On Saturday, Texas Congressman Tony Gonzales (R-TX) delivered this week’s Republican Address on the ongoing border crisis under the Biden administration.

Rep. Gonzales’ address comes on the heels of Kamala Harris’ widely publicized visit to Guatemala and Mexico, where she met separately with Alejandro Giammattei and Andres Manuel López Obrador to address the root cause of migrants making the dangerous trek to the U.S.-Mexico border. Harris never visited the southern border on her trip, which subsequently became the talking point of her first international trip as vice president.

Gonzales, on the other hand, represents Texas's 23rd District, which includes over 800 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border, amounting to 40 percent of the entire border. Seventy percent of his constituents are “proud Hispanic-Americans,” who are hurting more than ever because of illegal immigration at our southern border.

"The surge of people traveling illegally into the United States has created unprecedented challenges for law enforcement officers, farmers, ranchers, small business owners. And sadly, my communities have been abandoned by the current Administration. I speak with farmers and ranchers who have had water lines cut or fences destroyed. I hear from local mayors and judges whose cities experience high speed car chases every day between smugglers and border patrol. I receive texts and calls from friends who find contraband, weapons and drugs accidentally left behind on their property by smugglers.”

Gonzales elaborated, explaining how border cities are “overwhelmed” with the surge of immigrants making their way stateside.

“We have seen heartbreaking, overcrowded shelters for unaccompanied children, trucks full of people breaking down in the desert and groups crossing rivers in the middle of the night. People are risking their lives and making an incredibly dangerous journey, usually lasting weeks or months, to live in our country.” Gonzales said in his address.

To wrap things up, Gonzales shared his personal experience of attaining his idea of the “American dream,” and recognizes that although we are a nation of immigrants, we are also a nation of laws that need to be followed for those who want American citizenship.

"My life is the American dream. Abandoned by my father at two months old, spent time in a battered women's shelter, and after serving our great country in the Navy for 20 years, I am a U.S. Congressman. We have to protect the American Dream, where no matter where you start in life you can do and be anything. The most powerful thing about the American dream is that it does not have to start in America. The United States is a nation of immigrants but we are also a nation of laws. We need to secure our border, protect our neighbors from chaos and welcome those seeking a new opportunity through legal immigration."
