The Perils of America's Woke Military

Last week we shared the disturbing news that the Sergeant Major of the Army recommended our soldiers apply for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), aka food stamps, to keep up with the growing inflation. I find it unconscionable that we are sending billions of dollars to foreign nations, but our troops are being told to sign up for assistance to afford food.

But this is just a small example of what is happening for our military. The perilous infusion of cultural Marxism into our Armed Forces is far more dangerous.

Recently, the Department of Defense Chief of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Kelisa Wing, who self describes herself as a "woke administrator," made some very disconcerting comments towards white Americans...or folx as she asserts. I have to ask, how much is this racist person being paid while our soldiers are being told to apply for food stamps? But even more troubling is that such a radical individual is allowed access to our military? How can we have an effective, cohesive fighting force when you have a radical Marxist disparaging one demographic of our military force? Cultural Marxism has no place in our Armed Forces and the last thing we need is an office of diversity, equity, and inclusion in our Department of Defense, a cover for enabling these radicals.

It was not too long ago that our military was being focused on combat readiness, capability, and capacity to fulfill its mission. Now, we have a Secretary of Defense, with whom I served at Ft. Bragg NC, who is issuing memorandums telling members of our military to get used to troops suffering from gender dysphoria entering shower and latrine facilities with them. Basically, female troops are being told that biological men will be naked, showering with them. Now, if you are an adult and want to play make believe, fine, go ahead, but this should not be happening in our military. As well, the American taxpayer should not be responsible for subsidizing hormonal therapies or surgical procedures for individuals affected by this mental condition...the previous diagnosis of the American Psychiatric Association.

Just this past week, the United States Air Force Academy announced new rules about promoting gender neutral language. Can you imagine that the USAFA now advises against saying such simple things as Mom and Dad? They are advising cadets to inquire about a person's desired pronouns before making any declarations. A few months ago, the U.S. Navy issued a video about correct pronoun usage. Hmm, I can remember some very interesting names that Drill Sergeants would use, and they did not inquire about pronouns. Matter of fact, knucklehead is gender neutral, along with stuck on stupid. There seems to be a lot of that in our military and its senior leadership at this time.

But what has to be most worrisome for our military has been the illegal, immoral, unethical, and unconstitutional COVID shot mandate forced upon our servicemen and women. Earlier this month, seven cadets at the US Coast Guard Academy were expelled for refusing to take the jab; the same has occurred at the United States Military Academy, West Point. And we are all aware of the countless stories of men and women in uniform who are being persecuted for not taking this shot. There are troops who are being segregated into deplorable living conditions, treated like lepers. They are having their constitutional rights denied, such as religious exemptions. They share their stories with us at the American Constitutional Rights Union's Committee to Support and Defend, America's constitutional conservative Veterans organization.

What should cause us concern is that our troops are being treated in such a disgusting manner even as we now know that Dr. Deborah Birx admitted they knew the shot would not prevent being infected with the virus. SecDef Austin, Commander in Chief Biden, and Dr Fauci all contracted the virus after having the shot and boosters. Last week, Joe Biden stated that the pandemic is over, so why are we still punishing our troops and mandating this shot on some of the most physically fit in our country? When you study the objective facts and statistics you will see that the infamous shot has caused more harm than what is being reported. There are countless cases of cardiac issues such as myocarditis. One has to ask, will our troops be able to file lawsuits against those who forced this untested shot upon them? Yes, it was only under emergency use authorization, not full FDA approval.

Will there be legislation passed in the U.S. Congress that will allow our troops to seek legal recompense? Will military members who were discharged from the military be reinstated? Heck, if the GOP is successful in the midterm elections, will the Department of Defense office of diversity, equity, and inclusion be defunded? Will our military find senior leaders who will honor their oath to the Constitution, not to political ideology, certainly not to cultural Marxism?

America's constitutional conservative veterans’ organization, the Committee to Support and Defend, is taking the lead on these issues. Our U.S. military is being led down the perilous road of "wokeness." The last thing America needs is a politicized military and kommissars advocating an ideology that is anathema to our rule of law, our Constitution...of which our military members take an oath to support and defend.

The 'Secure Border' of Kamala Harris

When Donald Trump was president in fiscal 2019, the Border Patrol did not encounter a single individual on the terrorist watchlist trying to illegally cross the U.S.-Mexico border between the legal ports of entry.

In the first ten months of this fiscal year, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, they encountered 66.

These include individuals, as CBP explains on its website, who are "known or suspected terrorists" or "individuals who represent a potential threat to the United States, including known affiliates of watchlisted individuals."

Did CBP fail to encounter any watchlisted individuals in 2019 because the Trump administration was less aggressive about securing that border?

Or have 66 been caught this year because the Biden administration has sent a signal to the world that the border is not as secure now as it was three years ago and, thus, has inspired watchlisted individuals to try sneak in?

Appearing on NBC's "Meet the Press" last Sunday, Vice President Kamala Harris claimed that the U.S.-Mexico border has indeed been secured and argued that illegal aliens already inside the United States should be rewarded with U.S. citizenship.

"Would you call the border secure?" host Chuck Todd asked Harris.

"I think that there is no question that we have to do what the president and I asked Congress to do -- the first request we made, pass a bill to create a pathway to citizenship," Harris responded.

"The border is secure," she continued.

"But we also have a broken immigration system, in particular over the last four years before we came in, and it needs to be fixed," she said.

"We're going to have 2 million people cross this border for the first time ever," Todd said. "You're confident this border is secure?"

"We have a secure border," Harris repeated, "in that that is a priority for any nation, including ours and our administration. But there are still a lot of problems that we are trying to fix, given the deterioration that happened over the last four years.

"We also have to put in place a law and a plan for a pathway to citizenship for the millions of people who are here and are prepared to do what is legally required to gain citizenship," she said.

This is nonsense.

People who were "prepared to do what is legally required to gain citizenship" legally applied for immigrant visas before they came to the United States, came here legally and are now living here legally on a legal path to citizenship.

Harris is talking about people who have violated the law either by overstaying a visa or by illegally sneaking across our border.

America has the most generous legal immigration policies of any nation on Earth.

In 2019, the same year that the Border Patrol did not encounter a single person on the terrorist watchlist at the U.S.-Mexico border, the United States naturalized 843,593 new foreign-born citizens.

These new Americans came from all across the globe, according to data published by the Department of Homeland Security.

The total included 5% from Central America, 8.1% from South America, 9.6% from Europe, 10.1% from Africa, 12% from the Caribbean, 15.8% from other regions in North America and 38.8% from Asia.

In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic started, the number of naturalized U.S. citizens dropped to 628,254. In 2021, however, it climbed back up to 813,861.

The 813,861 people who became naturalized U.S. citizens in 2021 almost equaled the entire population of San Francisco, which the Census Bureau says was 815,201 in that year.

Indeed, the number of people who became naturalized U.S. citizens in 2021 exceeded the populations of many major U.S. cities, including Seattle (733,919), Denver (711,463), Washington, D.C. (670,050), Boston (654,776), Detroit (632,464) and Baltimore (576,498).

Clearly, the United States has not closed its doors to law-abiding people who immigrate here in keeping with our laws.

What has happened along our border in the last three years? In fiscal 2020, Trump's last full year in office, CBP reported that it encountered 458,088 people trying to illegally cross the U.S.-Mexico border into the United States.

In fiscal 2021, the year Biden succeeded Trump, the number of people CBP encountered trying to illegally cross the U.S.-Mexico border jumped to 1,734,686.

"Migrants were encountered 1.7 million times in the last 12 months, the highest number of illegal crossings recorded since at least 1960," the New York Times said on Oct. 22, 2021.

"It was the highest number of illegal crossings recorded since at least 1960, when the government first began tracking such entries," said the Times.

The Washington Post reported on April 2, 2021 -- more than two months after Biden took office -- that the number of illegal border crossers who successfully evaded the Border Patrol was surging.

"Nearly 1,000 people per day are sneaking into the United States without being identified or taken into custody because U.S. border agents are busy attending to migrant families and unaccompanied children while also trying to stop soaring numbers of male adults, according to three U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials familiar with the data," the Post reported.

"While CBP has never claimed to interdict every border-crosser, the number of 'got aways' recorded in recent weeks is the highest in recent memory, said two of the officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the data," reported the Post.

In just the first ten months of this fiscal year (October through July), CBP has encountered 1,946,780 illegal border crossers.

The Biden administration is setting another record for the number of illegal border crossers encountered by CBP.

This is what Vice President Harris calls a "secure border."

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Mr. Biden opened the border to Mexico. Reaction: 2 million people illegally entered the United States through our southern border, and the number increases daily.

Action: Democrats Abandoned working-class voters of all races in favor of the uber-rich. Action: Trump-aligned Republicans returned to the policies of hard work, education, not indoctrination, manufacturing as the foundation of a strong economy, and robust small business entrepreneurship. Reaction: Hispanic voters swung to the Republican party. According to an April 2022 survey by Trafalgar Group, 65.2% of Hispanics believe the southern border should be closed.

From 2017 to 2021, the Trump administration's policy regarding our border with Mexico was to enforce laws and secure the southern border by building a wall and requiring those seeking asylum to remain in Mexico until granted asylum. Squishy, fake, RINO inside-the-beltway Republicans and Democrats opposed funding the wall, and Trump took money from the Department of Defense to build it. House Democrats took him to Federal Court to stop him and failed.   

Residents and leaders in Democrat-run, "blue cities" opposed Trump's border policies. Action: In response to Trump, many declared themselves a "Sanctuary." Places like Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Sacramento, San Francisco, and smaller municipalities like Martha's Vineyard seemed to declare, If you enter the United States illegally, you are welcome in their city. If you come to their city, they offer you food, shelter, clothing, healthcare, employment, and education for your children. New York City allowed people who entered the country illegally to vote in local elections, making them stakeholders in city functions until the New York Supreme Court declared it unconstitutional for non-citizens to vote. 

Blue city leaders and residents were particularly appalled that when enforcing existing immigration laws at the border, children were separated from the adults with whom they crossed the border until it was confirmed that the adults were their parents or guardians. So, the blue city leaders and residents, whether by accident or design, sent the message to those entering the country illegally, "If you come to us, you will be safe. You will not live in fear. Just as law enforcement is not allowed to enter a church, synagogue, or mosque, we will not allow law enforcement to enter your life. Sanctuary city law enforcement will not be allowed to ask about your immigration status, and we will not cooperate with Federal authorities such as ICE. Come to us, and you will not be deported."

Action: Martha's Vineyard declared itself a "Sanctuary City." Reaction: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis humanely provided food, shelter, clothing, and transportation to Martha's Vineyard for fifty people who illegally entered the United States, seeking sanctuary. Reaction: Within 48 hours, Martha's Vineyard conducted a joint military and police action to remove the fifty people seeking a better life in their city, busing them to Joint Military Base Cape Cod, their fate unknown. (The military response time to Martha's Vineyard was notably faster than the response to Benghazi.)

Now that people who entered the United States illegally are being transported to the sanctuaries, blue city leaders and residents are panicking that their infrastructure and resources are about to be depleted. When blue city leaders and residents declared themselves sanctuaries, they failed to forecast requirements and form a detailed plan so they could execute their sanctuary policies. It turns out they are no more prepared for the influx of people who entered the United States illegally than the municipalities where the Biden Administration has been surreptitiously dropping off the same people with the exact needs. Despite denials by the Biden administration and their media accomplices, video evidence confirmed the flights.

It is almost as if their declarations of "sanctuary" were empty gestures designed to rally the far left base and provide a mechanism for painting those who supported enforcing immigration laws as racists. It is as if they never wanted to accept people who entered the United States illegally into their cities or spend the necessary taxpayer funds to provide them with taxpayer-funded food, shelter, healthcare, and education. It is almost as if they did not mean it.

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The border state governors' transportation of people who entered the United States illegally to sanctuaries is the equal and opposite reaction to the action that blue city leaders and residents asked for and deserve.
