Hangin’ With the Worst of the Worst

Every single illegal alien (the legal term) must leave our country. Yes, we need to reform our immigration laws to encourage and support legal immigration that reflects our country’s economic needs and values, while rejecting any notion that America is open to all comers. Republicans are missing a historic opportunity to set the tone of immigration for generations to come.

Where we conservatives got it wrong is that our messaging was that we’re only going after the worst of the worst. That set an expectation that only a select few illegals would be deported, leading to disingenuous outrage by media outlets and politicians. (Did you hear Dick Durbin equating arresting illegal aliens to WWII internment camps?)

The entire Trump administration knew that was not the case. Wherever you find one bad guy (or girl), you are bound to find others, mainly economic migrants or, even more problematic, family members, some of whom were born here after coming illegally—the result—perennially bad optics.

Then there is the definition of what the worst of the worst even means. According to Homeland Security, the definition is. The Trump Administration defines “the worst of the worst” as illegal aliens convicted of serious crimes, particularly violent offenses such as murder, rape, child sexual abuse, and drug trafficking.

Eventually, that definition was reasonably expanded to include illegal aliens who have a record of arrests but not necessarily convictions, those awaiting trial for violent or even economic crimes, and other undesirables. But that’s not good enough. None of them should be here.

The issue of undesirables needs a national discussion. Beating around the bush by claiming we are only going after a subset of illegal aliens has the effect of legitimizing other illegals not deemed the “worst of the worst”. That’s a huge public relations mistake that the left has exploited the Trump administration hasn’t addressed.

The direct result of losing the narrative through an unforced error is that the Democrats have been able to claim that touching anyone who is not a felon criminal puts democracy at risk, as if illegal aliens were somehow the equal of American citizens. In the process, they have devalued what it means to be an American citizen. Congress must rectify the blurring of the line between non-citizens and citizens; the President cannot.

Border czar Tom Homan stated that many people who are national security threats may not have criminal records but remain dangerous due to their intent or affiliations. The net result of this poorly conceived and implemented messaging is a gift to the left. Despite Trump’s efforts, most illegal aliens are still here, and aren’t going anywhere:

  • Since Donald Trump came into office, about 515,000 illegal aliens (projected to be over 600,000 by the end of the year) have been or will have been deported.
  • 1.6 million have self-deported during the same time period.
  • The three most concentrated states for illegal immigrants are California, New York, and Illinois, with over 2.6 million illegal aliens.
  • The Immigration Court System has 600 immigration judges overseeing 2.8 million cases, half of which involve individuals who have already been denied the right to stay and are fighting it. The balance is still to be adjudicated.
  • 34% of asylum seekers never appear at their immigration hearings, resulting in default deportation orders.
  • Eight hundred fifty thousand individuals have overstayed their visas and are subject to deportation.
  • 56% of all illegal aliens reside in 13 sanctuary cities or states.
  • Twenty-seven million people are trafficked in the world, with an unknown number, but in the hundreds of thousands, right here in the U.S., victimized.

Reading the above, it is not difficult to conclude that illegal immigration is a cancer in our country. A Harvard/Harris poll in October of this year found 56% of registered voters favor deporting all illegal immigrants. Reasons you hear for why illegal immigration cannot be allowed vary, including issues of the rule of law, criminality, economic costs, and the intent to change this country’s demographics, among others.

But perhaps the best reason is the easiest to understand—it’s simply not fair to the millions of people who are already here or want to be here legally. And that’s where it matters that the Trump administration has ceded ground to Democrats, allowing them to claim that “non-criminal” illegal aliens are de facto legal in some way. The consequences for this are dire.

America is America for a reason. Partly, it’s about our European ancestors who established a society fundamentally different from those of individuals from other parts of the world with different customs, outlooks, and aspirations. But, it is even more than that. An America that no longer has a shared common history is degraded.

Diversity, trumpeted as a strength, is a dagger aimed at our heart that we don’t name for fear of being labeled a racist. Millions of people believe this, yet don’t riot in the streets, loot, or attend large rallies in support of protecting our identity, nor break our laws as if they have a constitutional right to do so.

The silent majority needs to grow a spine and come to grips with the loss of our country through illegal immigration by millions of people who will not assimilate as past generations did. We must understand that the loudest voices are not fundamentally pro-American. Pretending that they are has opened the floodgates, leading to a radical shift in our country's direction. It’s as if a swarm of locusts has descended on us, hollowing out our country day by day.

Thankfully, Americans are slowly gaining the courage to reject the left’s call to spread our arms around not just the worst of the worst, but all the many interlopers who want what you have!

Not all immigrants are bad, of course, but the act of coming here illegally forever tarnishes all. That’s the ultimate reality that Biden and politicians like Durbin bequeathed to them all.

The 'National Counterterrorism Center' (NCTC) is doing a magnificent job!

 

Gabbard touts new takedowns of cartel leaders

In recent weeks, U.S. and Mexican authorities — fed by intelligence from the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) — have arrested three high-impact cartel figures:

  • An Oct. 2, 2025 arrest of a Sinaloa cartel cocaine facilitator, Jason Duncker, who was tied to multi-kilo shipments and money-laundering near Monterrey, Mexico.  He worked for the Sinaloa and Gulf cartels, allegedly helping to move more than 75 kg of cocaine into the U.S., and laundered hundreds of thousands of dollars for both cartels.
  • The Oct. 21, 2025 arrest of “El Pato,” a Sinaloa boss whose crew mixed classic organized crime with terrorist-style violence.  Leonardo Daniel Martinez Vera was arrested in Juárez, Mexico, and was “allegedly responsible for leading a wide range of illicit activities, including drug trafficking, extortion, kidnapping, and murder.”  NCTC “provided timely and accurate information to Mexican authorities” for the raid of two houses while in search of El Pato.  Three others were apprehended for money-laundering.

In an October 24 White House roundtable on national security, director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said each takedown was enabled by fast, “actionable” intelligence pushed to the field, thanks to the new Interagency Fusion Cell (NIFC) inside NCTC.

Six months old, the NIFC is a physically co-located shop where the Intelligence Community (I.C.) and front-line law enforcement sit together, move leads quickly, declassify what’s needed, and support operations in real time against foreign terrorist gangs and cartels.  The cell is the intelligence engine behind the administration’s Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF), to which the White House attributes 3,000+ arrests and 150,000+ pounds of seized narcotics to date.  Gabbard said the NIFC effectively turbocharges intelligence-sharing.

The United States has had “fusion” centers for years.  But this time, Gabbard is in charge.  Her goal with the NIFC is to cut through the bureaucratic red tape that can greatly hinder the capture of high-value targets.  Housing the cell at ODNI/NCTC does three things at once.

  1. It collapses timelines.  Cartel targets are usually mobile, and longer analytic cycles on intelligence can miss the window of opportunity.  Co-location allows analysts, information collectors, and case agents to produce actionable plans in hours and days, not weeks.
  1. It unlocks channels by treating designated cartels and transnational gangs as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs), thanks to Trump administration policies.  The designation reframes the threat environment, opening terrorism-oriented intelligence channels and speeding declassification pathways to clear the way for holding facilitators accountable under material support frameworks.
  1. It prioritizes critical targets, as exemplified by the capture of key figures like La Diabla and her baby-trafficking ring, not just low-level mules and lackeys.

The Sept. 2, 2025 arrest of La Diabla exemplifies how critical NCTC-NIFC coordination is.  The real-time coordination of U.S. intelligence and the NCTC in a joint operation with Mexican law enforcement has arguably saved countless mothers and infants from horrific treatment.  NCTC Director Joe Kent explains the efficiency of the coordinated operation in his Sept. 24, 2025 ODNI press release:

This is one example of what terrorist cartels will do to diversify their revenue streams and finance operations. NCTC delivered critical intelligence on “La Diabla’s” location and developed comprehensive analysis that enabled U.S. and Mexican law enforcement partners to take action. I am proud of our team’s ability to work with our forward deployed U.S. partners and Mexican law enforcement to stop these horrific acts. NCTC remains committed to disrupting all aspects of terrorist cartels and their operations. And in this case, the lives of innocent women and children depended on it.

NCTC said La Diabla’s arrest “was supported by U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) El Paso, the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) El Paso, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and executed by Mexican law enforcement partners and Fiscalia Especializada en la Mujer (the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Women).”

Briefly describing the horrific human-trafficking operation during the roundtable, Gabbard said NCTC coordinated the operation and “provid[ed] intelligence to Mexican law enforcement that led to the arrest of CJNG cartel-affiliated baby trafficker La Diabla.  Her operation centered around luring pregnant women and then performing [illegal] C-sections, harvesting organs, and selling newborn babies.”

Infants were allegedly sold on the black market for up to 250,000 pesos (about $14,000) each.  Gabbard credited President Trump “for making all of this possible,” even during a government shutdown.

President Trump has been unrelenting with the cartels, designating international cartels and cartel-affiliated gangs both here and abroad as foreign terrorist organizations in a Jan. 20, 2025 executive order.  The designation was later affirmed in a fact sheet published by the secretary of State in February 2025.

Kent also highlighted the importance and granularity of the coordinated effort that facilitated the arrest of Duncker in his Oct. 6, 2025 press release.

NCTC employs some of the best analysts and targeters in the world — experts at putting tactical intelligence into the hands of law enforcement officers on the ground. They know where terrorists work, sleep, and park their cars. Thursday’s arrest sends a clear message to terrorists: we will find you. I am proud of the NCTC team’s patriotism, resolve, and commitment to eradicating terrorist threats to the United States.

The Trump administration has been transparent about its efforts to keep our borders safe.  However, to continue to keep the public informed, ODNI should consider publishing a recurring NCTC scorecard that tracks arrests and extraditions attributable to the cell and documents measurable network disruption — financiers removed, labs closed, precursor chokepoints cut, and logistics corridors degraded.  Gabbard should also continue to ensure regular announcements on prosecutions and asset seizures linked to NCTC/NIFC operations.

Valuing American citizenship

President Trump’s Executive Order Protecting the Meaning and Value of American Citizenship ending the birthright citizenship interpretation that just being born in the United States is all that is necessary for citizenship is now before the Supreme Court. This interpretation largely stems from an expansive reading of 1898 Supreme Court case of Wong Kim Ark. Wong was a narrow ruling, not the blanket birthright grant of citizenship that the liberals so widely tout to apply to children of illegal aliens born in the United States.

They claim that Wong adopts territorial jurisdiction as the citizenship test which adopts the English law principle of “jus soli” (right of the soil).  This position, which ignores the contrary text of the Civil Rights Act of 1866, the legislative history of the 14th Amendment, the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924, and Supreme Court rulings in Elk vs Wilkins, the Slaughter-House Cases, and even Wong Kim Ark and others.

In challenging President Trump’s Executive Order on citizenship, liberal courts have issued citizenship rulings interpreting the 14th Amendment that mirror the Dred Scott Supreme Court position that people are property under a sovereign monarch. This is in direct contrast to “We the people of the United States” that establishes citizenship as a covenant based on mutual allegiance “to ourselves and our posterity.”

Section 1 of the 14th Amendment states, “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.” The historical record is clear -- “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” means allegiance that can only be gained by having a parent that is a U.S. citizen.

The irony is rich -- by their reasoning, the 14th Amendment means all persons born in the United States are treated as property much like English law, clearly at odds with the intent of the Amendment to strike down the Dred Scott ruling that slaves were property and not entitled to citizenship.

In essence, these courts have ruled that citizenship vests as a property interest of the United States based solely on being born within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States. There is no choice for the individual, no citizenship legacy “for our posterity” to inherit, there is no birthright citizenship for citizens that is different than non-citizens. Clearly the beneficiary is the State, not the individual.

These rulings adopt “Jus soli” the English law that a person was a subject of the Crown and its taxes and laws -- in other words, the property interest was the monarch’s, not the individual -- there was no choice.

This territorial jurisdiction view of “Jus soli” was clearly rejected -- the history is crystal clear -- “a person born and subject to the jurisdiction thereof” is a citizen… with allegiance of one or both parents being the determining factor. Citizenship was granted to those living in the United States when the Constitution was adopted, and citizenship rights flowed to their children even if they were born on foreign soil. “We the People of the United States… do ordain and establish the Constitution to ourselves and our posterity…”

Dred Scott ruled that slaves were property and the entire purpose of the Civil Rights Act of 1866, and the 14th Amendment was to repudiate that people were property. But now liberal jurists readily adopt territorial jurisdiction which equates to a property interest in citizenship for the benefit of the State, not the citizen. The 14th Amendment means allegiance-based citizenship as a covenant between the citizen and the State -- a choice of the individual and the State.

 “We the people” means there has to be a mutual acceptance of allegiance or loyalty to the United States as opposed to territorial jurisdiction which creates a property interest identical to Dred Scott's ruling that slaves are property. There is no basis for territorial jurisdiction with any honest assessment of the Constitution, the legislative history of the 14th Amendment, and Supreme Court case law.
