Confrontation with Federal Law Enforcement calls for desparate measures.

ICE agents in Chicago surrounded by 10 vehicles in confrontation: DHS

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were surrounded by as many as 10 vehicles while on routine patrol in this Chicago suburb — a confrontation that federal officials say escalated to the point of shots fired.

According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), one of the drivers in the circle of vehicles was armed with a semi-automatic weapon. DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said that ICE agents “were forced to deploy their weapons and fire defensive shots” against an individual identified as a U.S. citizen. McLaughlin said this person was named in an intelligence bulletin from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), according to Fox News.

Officials said the agents were conducting what they described as a normal patrol in Broadview when the group of cars surrounded their vehicle. The incident is occurring amid heightened unrest in the area over recent anti-ICE protests, which have intensified tensions between federal enforcement and local communities.

"The armed woman was named in a CBP intelligence bulletin last week for doxing agents and posting online ‘Hey to all my gang let’s f*ck those mother f*ckers up, don’t let them take anyone.’ Thankfully, no law enforcement officers were seriously injured in this attack," McLaughlin wrote on X.

"Pritzker’s Chicago Police Department is leaving the shooting scene and refuses to assist us in securing the area. There is a growing crowd and we are deploying special operations to control the scene. This is an evolving situation and we will give more information as soon as it becomes available," she added.

McLaughlin said agents were "unable to move their vehicle" and exited.

"One of the drivers who rammed the law enforcement vehicle was armed with a semi-automatic weapon. Law enforcement was forced to deploy their weapons and fired defensive shots at an armed US citizen who drove herself to the hospital to get care for wounds," she said.
